Risperidone (RISDIN®)

What is Risdin used for?

Risdin is an antipsychotic drug used for the treatment of schizophrenia and other psychoses.

How much and how often should Risdin be taken?

Risdin is taken at a usual dose of 2 mg to 4 mg daily in 1 or 2 divided doses but should not exceed 16 mg. For the elderly and patients with kidney and liver impairment, the initial dose is 0.5 mg two times a day and if necessary the dose may be increased to 1 mg to 2 mg two times a day.

What are the possible side effects of Risdin?

The more frequent side effects of Risdin are indigestion, nausea, abdominal pain, anxiety, concentration difficulties, headache, dizziness, fatigue, rhinitis and decreased or elevated blood pressure. It is less likely to cause sedation or extrapyramidal symptoms but agitation may occur more frequently.

What does Risdin pack contain?

Risdin is risperidone 2 mg tablet available in blister pack of 10’s in a box of 100’s and risperidone 4 mg tablet available in blister pack of 10’s in a box of 100’s.
