Akidin is used for the symptomatic treatment of Parkinsonism and alleviation of extrapyramidal syndrome secondary to intake of phenothiazine drugs.
For Parkinsonism, Akidin is taken at an initial dose of 2 mg, 3 to 4 times a day, and can be increased according to the patient's needs up to a maximum of 16 mg in 24 hours. For drug-induced extrapyramidal symptoms, Akidin is given at 2 mg, 1 to 3 times a day.
The usual side effects of Akidin are dryness of the mouth, difficulty swallowing and talking, thirst, difficulty urinating and constipation.
Akidin is Biperiden HCl 2 mg tablet available in blister pack of 10's in a box of 100's.
