Biperiden HCl Tablet (AKIDIN®)

What is Akidin used for?

Akidin is used for the symptomatic treatment of Parkinsonism and alleviation of extrapyramidal symptoms secondary to intake of phenothiazine drugs.

How much and how often should Akidin be taken?

Treatment with Akidin is usually given with small incremental doses, depending on the therapeutic effect and side effects.

For Parkinsonism: Initial dose is 2 mg/day. Dose may be increased by 2 mg per day up to a maximum of 16 mg daily.

For Drug-induced Extrapyramidal Symptoms: Adult dose is 1 to 4 mg one to four times daily as oral concomitant medication to the neuroleptic, depending upon the severity of the symptoms. Dose for children aged 3 to 15 years is 1 to 2 mg, one to three times daily.

What are the possible side effects of Akidin?

The usual side effects of Akidin are dryness of the mouth, difficulty swallowing and talking, thirst, difficulty urinating and constipation.

What does Akidin pack contain?

Akidin is biperiden HCl 2 mg tablet available in blister pack of 10’s in a box of 100’s.
